Will seeds from a yellow hollyhock flower mature into a new hollyhock with yellow flowers? Can one plant seeds from a hollyhock with red flowers and get new hollyhocks with red flowers?
Or, is it a guess as to what flower colors will come from a given plant?
Thanks, Bill

It depends on whether or not the plants were grown near other hollyhocks of a different color. Hollyhocks are cross-pollinated by insects, so to preserve their color and other characteristics, only grow one variety at a time. If you grow the red and yellows at the same time and in the same area, the offshoots will vary unpredictably. It can be fun too! Maybe you'll develop a unique new strain.
