I have a sick weeping cherry tree. Late last summer it lost many leaves. The leaves were slightly yellow in color, and I knew it was shedding much too soon. This spring there were many dead branches, which I trimmed away. It flowered very sparsely, and after it flowered there are very few leaves. I did some more pruning. I do see some new growth, but I know something must be wrong. There is no sap on the trunk. The roots were very close to the ground, some exposed, so I put some top soil on them, not close to the trunk. I also used Miracle Grow tree fertilizer spikes as suggested by a gardener. I just put those spikes in this week. I am wondering what might be wrong with it, and is there something else I can do to help it? Is it dying a slow death, and why? It is only about 6 years old. Before this it was always a show piece. Please help. Thanks. null amule20@yahoo.com
